To arrive at the correct decision about what to study and where, you need all the facts and the options available to you. Working with an Exclusive Educational Counsellor, you explore your strengths, discover your priorities, delve into your emotional intelligence and find suitable pathways and careers.
We can discover your ideal working environment and learning style and make suggestions to develop these to maximize your success. These skills equal success in high school and beyond.
Once we have identified suitable careers, we make recommendations and share strategies and resources on how to explore them. Through volunteering, job shadowing, career exploration and informational interviews, this list becomes smaller, and your choice of careers becomes clearer.
Our services allow you to choose your topic(s) of choice so you can prepare according to your needs.
When we plan for a trip, we think nothing about researching our destination, considering how it will satisfy our needs, and packing our bags according to the weather, length of stay and activities.
Planning for your future career should involve the same detailed planning, but there aren’t many guidebooks available. That’s where Exclusive Educational Consultants step in to make certain that you are ready for your future with a defined pathway to the post-secondary destination where you will be academically, emotionally, and socially successful.
Planning for admission into your dream program is essential to minimize wasted time in high school and to maximize the chances of successful admission. We evaluate your current academic success and make adjustments based on the point you are at in your academic life.
*1 HOUR SESSIONS
Applying to post-secondary schools is a time of confusion for many students – Which school? Which program? What are the extra requirements? How can I meet the deadlines for supplementary applications and portfolios? We work with you one-on-one to identify your priorities, create a school list, make recommendations on how to evaluate a school and prepare for the supplementary requirements.
When you submit your supplementary essay or portfolio for a selective program, you are allowing the admissions committee a glimpse into who you are outside of an academic profile. They are also assessing your suitability as a candidate for that program. The submitted documents, therefore, need to effectively communicate your uniqueness and relevance for the program. Our goal is to work with you to ensure your application highlights your profile and demonstrates you are a student they want in the program.
If the program you have applied for includes an interview, we work with you to prepare you for each of these beforehand with mock interviews to ensure you present your best self.
We know that over 80 percent of scholarships don't require an academic average. That means that you may be a candidate for a partial of full-ride scholarship, but they often need a new application, possibly an activity resume and an interview.
Should I take AP, IB, Enriched programs? Does it matter?
In this session, we start with a discussion about the different options available in high school and identify the most suitable program and courses for you. This session helps you select which high school to apply to or which subjects to choose in grade 11.
This plan creates a strategy to enable you to achieve your maximum academic performance and plans the best time for you to take standardized or application tests (if applicable).
Are you a competitive applicant?
Certain university programs (such as Waterloo’s Software Engineering or McMaster’s Bachelor of Health Sciences and American Ivy League schools) are incredibly competitive. Becoming a competitive applicant requires careful planning to stand out from the crowd and secure admission.
Depending on what stage you are at and what your plan is, we discuss the factors essential to improve your admission success at these competitive programs and schools. At the end of the session, you will be more informed about the application process.
Does your targeted school provide the academic and social environment you need to fit in and excel?
We work with you to discover what’s important to you in university - academically, socially and financially. This session is helpful to identify the various parameters of a university to ensure the right ‘fit’ for you so that you can be academically successful and have the opportunity for personal and professional growth.
During the session, we use your current high school grades, identify your unique needs and values, and what is important to you.
Do you have a plan to show your competitive profile?
We work together to help you plan what you want to say and how you want to say it before you begin the writing process. This session is helpful if you are at the beginning of the writing process.
During the session, we will talk about your experiences and identify ones that we consider important to highlight to make you stand out in your application. We make recommendations on how to demonstrate your skills through sharing your story.
